Every month we review the coolest new venues in London, hand picking from our list of unique locations for corporate events, wedding receptions, Christmas parties, New Year Celebrations, and more. The month of Deember is a little different though, as it’s a great time to consider last minute events and venue availability over the holiday season, before all of the funky spaces with character are booked up.
Built in 1863, The Roost is a former Victorian pub split across 4 floors that now serves as a multi-purpose event space. Several original features have remained untouched, immediately bringing a rich ambience to this venue; one that is only enhanced by the eclectic and eccentric styling found throughout, which includes bold artwork, statement wallpapers and vintage furnishings. Large fireplaces on the ground floor bring a cosy, homely feel but the large windows and French doors (which lead to a pretty planted garden) ensure that the space feels bright and airy.
Three stories of luxury are what you’ll find in the Alma, a completely restored and renovated historic Georgian townhouse. It’s a high end apartment venue that’s perfect for intimate gatherings of either professional or corporate groups, and is nothing short of stunning. If you want to show space and a live like a king and queen for a night, then this is where you’ll want to be. Featuring leather floors, a full kitchen, attached wine cellar, with intricate wall decorations and themes, this location is pure and unadulterated grandeur. You’ll not need to do much in terms of decorations, as most has already been done, letting your guests just relax and bask in the elegance.
Victoria, which is perhaps the most central location in all of London, is where you’ll find the Qube Project. Like its surroundings, you’ll find no shortage of excitement in this exceptionally unique venue. From the themed decorations found throughout, to the custom lighting arrangements, there’s little here that won’t both amaze and impress you. It’s a wide open space that offers plenty of room to make your mark, decorating it to host everything form birthday parties to corporate functions and Christmas celebrations. You’ll love the high ceilings and odd angles of the walls, while the 3D video and state of the art tech will amaze and entertain guests, accommodating a wide range of event activities.
London is full of old warehouse venues, but Swan Wharf is a bit different than most of what you’ll find, with a unique blend of old and new works throughout. This can be seen in the rough and unfinished open brickwork of the loft, which is balanced out by the more refined and finished lower areas of the ground floor. It covers a massive 25,000 square feet of both outdoor and indoor space, and is situated on one of the old ford locks off the river Lea. It offers great views, including Olympic Park, and is equipped with a fully kitted kitchen, working bar, and its own bistro. From parties and events, to even hosting your own restaurant for a night, the space is a fantastic and versatile location.
Future Vintage is the phrase most often used to describe this chic West London venue, and MODE is nothing if not interesting. The setting is one inspired by all things industrial, and in particular the revolution elements of industry, pushing the envelope on both style and function. It sits over a large and welcoming main room, with a cocktail bar tucked off to the side, and a large mezzanine level looking down on it all. One of the best places to celebrate in Notting Hill, it’s just steps off Portobello Road, and easily accessible by tube. You’ll love what you can do with the place in terms of decorations and themes, while guests will rave about the decor and industrial charm found throughout.
