Private screening rooms in Central London
Reading Time: 4 minutes

Central London has lots of great venues that would make a great choice to host a private screening. To save you the leg work however, we’ve put together a selection of some of the best.

House of Detention

The House of Detention in Clerkenwell is arguably one of London’s most atmospheric venues, with its rich sense of history – stretching right back to the 17th century – almost tangible within its thick walls. Having once served as one of the country’s busiest prisons in Victorian times and later as an air raid shelter during the Blitz, it is now a totally unique, multi-purpose event space that guarantees to bring a strong sense of presence, making for a totally immersive experience. There is 9000 square feet of space on offer altogether and a maximum capacity of 160, making this an equally practical option as much as it is a visually appealing one.

Congress Centre

Congress CentreCongress Centre is found within an architecturally renowned modernist building and comes complete with all the latest high tech audio-visual facilities you could possibly need in-house, including giant plasma screens and HD equipment. There are no less than 16 spaces available, all of which are light-filled and air conditioned to ensure a comfortable atmosphere. The total capacity reaches an impressive 500, making it ideal for larger scale screenings and events, whilst the building itself sits within a triangle of good, easily reached transport links, which are Tottenham Court Road, Holborn and Goodge Street.

Islington Metalworks

Islington Metalworks

Islington Metalworks is very conveniently located for those travelling from throughout London by tube, as it sits tucked round the back of Angel station, meaning it can be reached in mere moments. Its links to the world of transport don’t end there however, as the building was once used as a stable for the horses used to pull trams within the city, making this a historically and culturally important venue for London. Now able to host all sorts of events, there is a kitchen and catering team onsite and a licence in place so that you can easily organise refreshments for your guests.

The London Irish Centre

The London Irish Centre

The London Irish Centre is both versatile and modern, able to accommodate both intimate gatherings for as few as 5 people, or large scale events for as many as 500. The 4 newly refurbished event spaces are all available for hire and are capable of accommodating many different styles, with the large windows ensuring an abundance of natural light throughout. Located in the popular area of Camden, it is also well connected to the rest of the city, with nearby transport links including Camden Town, Kentish Town West and Camden Road all reachable on foot.

Shoreditch Studios

Shoreditch Studios

If you’re looking for a blank canvas that you can really put your own stamp on then Shoreditch Studios is a great choice. Being located within 2 railway arches however, that’s not to say the space doesn’t bring its own charisma, with the curved ceilings and exposed brickwork harking back to the venue’s Victorian beginnings in 1860. With a good capacity of 350 and several good options when it comes to transport links in the area – including Old Street, Liverpool Street and Shoreditch High Street – it’s definitely a convenient venue well worth considering.

Everyman Cinema – Canary Wharf

Everyman Cinema - Canary Wharf

Everyman Cinema – Canary Wharf is situated on the waterfront at North Dock, in the sleek Crossrail Place development. There are 3 screens available here, all of which come complete with the venue’s now trademark sofa seating, which brings a more comfortable, informal feel to proceedings without losing any of its high standards, with the auditoria offering the very highest picture quality and the latest in digital projection. The team can create bespoke events upon request, whilst the building itself is well serviced by its close proximity to Canary Wharf station, which can be reached in just a few minutes.
